A portrait project celebrating the women who hold this community together and finally putting them in the frame.
Growing up, four portraits hung in my grandmother’s home - of my nan, my mum, and my two aunts. They always made me pause and wonder about the women in them. Those portraits held history, pride, and identity, and that idea has stayed with me.
Years later, after a session, a mum told me “You made me feel really beautiful.” That moment made me realise how powerful photography can be, and inspired me to create experiences that truly celebrate women and their stories.

This project is deeply personal. I’m turning 40 this year, and I’ve dreamed of creating a 40 Over 40 project for the past two years - but it didn’t feel right until I reached this milestone myself.
Like many women in their 30s and 40s, I’ve spent years putting everyone else first. As a mum of two, I realised along the way that I had lost touch with parts of myself, and that I’m in fewer photos than ever.
That’s when it clicked: so many women give so much to others that they slowly fade out of their own story. And this project is about changing that.

Two tickets (for you and a friend), to celebrate the end of the project with a drink on arrival and nibbles The portraits will be displayed in the Barrel Room. Your participation in the project will also benefit a local charity.

Common FAQs
Q: How long have you been a photographer?
A: I was gifted a camera when I was 13 on a family holiday. Naturally over the years cameras came and went. 2011 was the year I really wanted to pursue photography as a career. It would take 9 years to overcome that fear of being a photography business owner.
Q: What if I'm not comfortable in front of a camera?
A: That's exactly why this experience exists. Most women say the same thing walking in and say something completely different walking out. You'll have hair and makeup done, I'll guide you through every pose, and there's no pressure to look a certain way. You just have to show up.
Q: How many women have you photographed?
A: I've photographed 100s of women. Over the years, it's been formal students, expecting and new mums, experienced mums, women with cancer, women with ambition, women who are self conscious, brides, widows, women who are newly single, women who continue to inspire.
Q: “Is this a boudoir shoot?”
A: No! No, no, no. And I get it's a tad confusing that I'm sharing this from a boudoir account. Boudoir means a private space. This project will have portraits that you will be proud to hang in your living room.
Q: When will the photoshoots and event take place?
A: The photoshoots take place in July and August - on Mondays and Tuesdays. HMU and the shoot will take around 90 minutes. The exhibit will take place in September at The Barrel Room.
Q: What happens after the photoshoot?
A: The following week after your session we'll have your photo reveal back in the studio (or on zoom) for you to choose your favourite portrait. It is optional to purchase additional photos. You'll complete two questionnaires that will combine to tell your story.
Q: Do you offer any albums, prints, canvases, etc?
A: The portrait that you choose will be professionally framed. There are options to purchase other artwork for your portraits.
Q: Do you offer payment plans?
A: Yes, I do! The $990 is split into 4 equal payments of $247.50 — today, Jul 1, Aug 1, and Sep 1. I'm flexible though, so if those dates don't work perfectly for you, just let me know and we'll make it work. It's that easy.
